September 2012

This month:
  • Sailor is starting to know all of the main colors, but not consistently.
  • Sailor loves to fist bump ("poun it").
  • Sailor can count to ten, but usually misses one of the numbers.
  • Sailor can identify stars, triangles, circles and squares.
  • Sailor loves trucks and every time we pass while driving she shouts, "'gain, 'gain!"
  • Fire truck = "fiachuck"
  • Sailor loves the park and, specifically, the swings. Every time we get in the car she thinks we're going to the park and shouts, "Shing! Shing!"
  • Be careful! = "Be fefow" whenever she's doing something that she thinks might merit it.
  • "Oh gosh", "oh gooness" and "oh snap!"
  • Everything that Sailor doesn't want to do is "scawwy" (scary).
  • Diapers = "bapers"
  • On the 16th of this month, Sailor lasted the whole two hours in nursery without either Glen or I.
  • Sailor asks "Whas that?" about everything (while pointing) and then says "Yeah!" afterward, as if she is just testing us.
  • Sailor discovered gum this month and does really well with it. She is obsessed!
  • Sailor has learned to love trains and can hear one from miles away. Whenever she hears something that sounds like a train, she says, "See it?"
The first time Sailor had her hair curled.

Somebody loves reverse camera.

Chillin' with her bestie, Anna.
We got home from running errands and, when Sailor saw the sprinkler on in the neighbor's yard, she bolted over and played in it.

August 2012

This month:

  • Sailor learned how to sing Once There Was a Snowman and parts of Popcorn Popping.
  • At this point, Sailor was SO attached to me. One night I was making dinner in the kitchen and she was having a snack in the living room. At one point, I bent over to grab a pan out of the cupboard or something and Sailor, realizing that she couldn't see me anymore, started to cry because she thought I'd left the room. And don't even get me started on nursery. Since I am in Primary, Glen had to stay with her to keep her from freaking out. He said that she'd start shaking as soon as he walked into the room with her.
  • Sailor started saying, "wha happen?" (what happened).
  • Sailor did swim lessons this month (although we dropped out after the first week).
  • Sailor loves bugs and, this month, called every one a frog (which, instead of "frog", sounded exactly like the F word -- I'd be lying if I said I didn't get quite a kick out of this).
  • One Sunday, after Glen had left nursery with Sailor and brought her to me, she wrapped her arms around me and said, "I mitt you" (I missed you). Cutest. Thing. Ever.
  • I FINALLY transitioned Sailor to one nap a day. Freeeeedommmm!
  • Whenever Sailor sees another child, she shouts, "Hi fwend!!"
  • I say to Sailor "Hi, how are you?" to which she responds with "Gooh" probably ten times a day. This month, she started saying "Hi" and then immediately "gooh" without waiting for me to ask her how she's doing. HA!
  • Sailor started to become obsessed with slides (shides) this month. She was finally becoming big enough that I didn't have to watch her every move on the playground, which meant that the park was a favorite spot for both of us.
  • I decided to get a gym membership this month. Sailor had a really hard time adjusting to the childcare center the first couple of  weeks, but did just fine after that. It really helped her to be able to stay in nursery without us for longer periods of time too. Whew!
  • Unfortunately, Sailor started hitting this month. Really hitting. Unfortunately, also, Sailor is about twice the size of other kids her age, which made her quite the bully.

Sailor and I drove up to the Everts' house in Austin to visit while my Aunt Dana was there. It was so fun to spend some time with everyone and for Dana to meet Sailor!

I decided to spontaneously take Sailor to the splash pad on a hot day while we were running errands. She didn't seem to mind her lack of a swimsuit!

Something tells me she wasn't in the mood for pictures.

Ball pit at the gym.

Well.. I can't say I've ever seen a corn dog eaten like that before. Bravo.
We came to the park to play in the splash pad with friends but, unfortunately, she saw the slides.

Sailor stood on top of this box, looked at me, and said, "help?"
Our white trash version of Sailor playing dress-up is with daddy's shirts. They're basically dresses, right? ;)

Sailor and her friends, Anna and Grant Coplen.
Peek-a-boo!
My mom sent this dress for me and Sailor refused to believe it wasn't for her.
