July 2012

This month:

  • Sailor stood in a fire-ant colony and, before I could get to her, had them covering her legs and feet. I tried to brush them off as fast as I could, but she had already been bit probably a hundred times. Poor thing. It's been over a month since the incident and many of the bites are still visible on her legs. Hopefully they don't scar permanently.
  • One night, while tucking Sailor into bed, she put her arms up and said, "hubbabun?" (hug), so I gave her one. I guess I lingered too long because she pushed me away and said, "nigh nigh e'erbody."
  • We started time out this month, but it only seemed to make things worse.
  • Sailor started saying "you're welcome" after someone thanked her for something or if she thanked you and you forgot to say you're welcome.
  • Sailor started saying "gawwy" (scary) about everything she didn't want to do.
  • Sailor started putting in song requests to me at bedtime. She would say "how bou.. this one!" as if that narrowed it down much. In fact, she started saying "this one" whenever she wanted something.
  • This month, I consciously noted that Sailor's eyes sparkle! Mostly when she smiles, but also when she's being silly, joking, etc.
Sailor was so happy to be home to all of her toys after being in Washington and Utah for 6 weeks.

We were saying prayer when I opened my eyes and saw this -  Haha!!
I don't know who enjoyed the discovery of the toddler chair in this public bathroom more: Sailor or me.

My first diaper cake! Ignore the Ackley bobblehead..
These pants were way too big on her but they were the only solution we could find  to keeping her feet warm during the night without hurting her ant bites.
