March 2012

Sailor LOVES to play outside. She is completely in her element when we are outdoors: happy, energetic, and curious. Maybe it's because she's so incredibly active that she just needs more room to wiggle her legs. In any case, she throws a tantrum if you open the door to get something outside and don't let her out. I don't think anything makes her more angry. She always says, "'side, 'side!"

Sailor is also very adventurous and curious. There isn't much that scares her at her age.. slides, daddy's rough-necking, etc. She is always moving and always curious about the world around her. I often looked at other babies in church who were sitting peacefully on their mother's laps and thought to myself, "Oh how nice that would be." However, people are constantly telling me that her curiousity is due to her intelligence, which makes the exhaustion more bearable. Despite her exhausting personality, she really is a fun little firecracker.

This month:

  • Sailor started saying 'I love you' ("I uh YOU" with the emphasis on 'you' like in the Barney song). I don't think she knew what it meant, but it was still the cutest thing in the world.
  • Sailor could (kind of) sing the first two lines of the Barney song ("I uh YOU, you uh ME").
  • Sailor had watched the Justin Bieber "Baby" music video since she was a newborn. Grandma Young discovered that when Sailor had her crying fits, it was the only thing that would calm her right down. Anyway, I guess she had seen that video one too many times. This month she started singing, "Baby, baby, baby, OH."
  • Sailor still loved to read, but now she learned to bring me a book and sit on my lap whenever she wanted me to read to her. How could I say no to that?
  • Sailor could point to her toes and say, "toe". She also knew where her eyes, tongue and hair were.
  • "What does the kitty say? Meow."
  • Sailor said "Ah WHY" for "alright!" when asked about something she agreed with.
  • Sailor started saying "thank you" ("day do") at the appropriate times (without being told) this month.
  • "Oh my!" with a surprised expression. Really cute.
  • When I exercised in the mornings, Sailor would look at me while I was doing reps of something and say, "One two, one two."
"Hey y'allllllll!!"

This face never gets old.

Our neighbor rented a bounce house for his birthday party and Sailor wanted to try it out. She wasn't sure what to make of it at first, but was NOT happy when I took her out!

Showing off her dress from Great Grandma K, Great Aunt Jenny and Great Aunt Malinda.

Asleep in daddy's arms at church. She looks like a porcelain doll.
Nope.. still not old.
Finger painting!

Our neighbor's dog, Duke, was trying to push her away with his foot and she clearly thought it was hilarious.

Doin' the Mamba.
"Alright, she's all packed. Move 'er on out Mac."
At the Children's Museum. We usually went about once a week with my friend, Carrie.
Ok, I love her bum in this picture, but, seriously, how is her head so big?? I guess that 's what a head in the 100th percentile looks like.

So cute yet so white trash all at the same time.
Whoops.

Sailor's possessed face.

Wearing our neighbor, Shawn's, helmet. She is obsessed with anything that  has to do with him.
I found Glen talking to his sister, Rachelle, like this.
Sailor with the ghetto piano at the children's museum.
At the children's museum with my friend Carrie's son, Grant.
Sailor with her best friend, Anna (Carrie's other child).
Sailor's first fire ant encounter. Now that we live in Texas, it probably won't be the last!
Glen's creation.
Showing off his new hat. He's officially a part of the family now! Man, I love him.
At the College Station East egg hunt. Sailor was perfectly content after finding two eggs, but I wasn't!

Sailor and Anna

Here is a perfect example of Sailor's adventurous, sociable personality: many of the other toddlers and babies would scream when placed on the Easter Bunny's lap, but Sailor was perfectly content! The only time she cried was when we had to leave and I wouldn't let her run back to him.
I put a lot of work into this front yard and wanted to take a picture of it to show to my parents. My dad gave me a lot of the ideas for it, so I thought he'd be proud.
